The LEGO® Education Computer Science & AI Kit Year 7–9 is a hands-on educational solution designed to develop students’ computational thinking, programming skills, problem-solving abilities and understanding of artificial intelligence.
Suitable for students aged 11 and above, this classroom-ready kit combines LEGO® building elements with interactive hardware and block-based programming activities. It encourages students to explore computer science concepts, develop solutions and collaborate on practical challenges.
The kit includes 379 LEGO® bricks, a double motor, a single motor, a colour sensor and a controller, allowing students to build and program interactive models. Two connection cards and a USB charging cable are also included.
The accompanying Teacher Portal provides 30 lessons organised into six learning units: Basics, Loops, Conditionals, Variables, Functions, and AI & Data. The resources include lesson presentations, teacher facilitation notes, introductory materials and teaching support.
Students use LEGO® Education Coding Canvas, a responsive web application also available for iOS, to create programs using a block-based coding environment. The AI activities introduce students to classification and computer vision, helping them explore how computers learn from data.
Coding Canvas is designed with student privacy in mind: no student login is required, and projects are saved locally on the device.
